Re: RAP5
Which version did you get, for how much, and from whom? There's several versions floating around out there.

Re: RAP5
I got a fairly basic RAP5 (APS 11S) - it may be the LE version. It does not have the optional flexi-air system. I got it through packratunderground, an eBay seller. I was still able to get the optional airsoft and .177 BB (
) barrels through RAP.

Re: RAP5
Yeah, I'd been eyeing those too- at $250 it's the best price I'd seen.
Currently chatting with Jim Dat from RAP4. They have about 15 units in stock right now, and are just still updating the website. Also asking him about how hard it'd be to mod one of the M4s into one of these:

...or just to get a stick mag instead of a .223 mag into one, since the .43 casings look much more like 9mm brass than .223 brass.

Re: RAP5
It might be do-able since the 9mm upper only uses a mag well adapter to fit the clip. It would seem like the biggest reworking would be the clip itself. The shells could be made of a brass tubing with sufficient wall thickness to "sabot" the ammo or even left at .43 - I can't imagine anyone being able to tell the difference at full auto fire/ejection rates.

Re: RAP5
Yeah, but at list price. Now I'm kinda wishing I'd bought that one on ebay for $250...

Re: RAP5
One of the things I don't like about the RAP5 is that the mags are funny-looking. They become larger at the bottom and for some reason, this really bugs me.
I also don't like the fact that they kept firing after the mag was emptied, unlike the RAP4 METS. I guess if you're looking for use as a prop, however, this would be a good thing.

Re: RAP5
At least the mags look better than those on the supposed MP5K blank fire 'Blow Crazy' model, if you follow the blank firing gun stuff!
I hadn't noticed that, but I haven't seen an RAP MP5 in person yet either, sadly.

Re: RAP5
You are absolutely right. Those MP5K blank-firers were quite a disappointment. I was all worked-up wondering how I was going to come up with the money to buy a couple of those............until I saw them.............. yuck.
Anyway, it is tough to see the mag issue on the RAP5 on their website. I think it is purposely not shown. Look at some actual pics and you'll see what I mean. Outside of those two little issues, they are really cool guns. Once they get the MP5 to the "METS" level, I'll be buying a couple of them.

Re: RAP5
I noticed they seem to be very hard to locate here in the UK too.
The main supplier one-commando did not list them when I wanted one , and whilst they seem to fall outside of the clutches of the VCR Bill , it is not legal to post them and so its collect only . This only affects NEW models apparantly . ( So fire off a few rds and its used - right !!
)
Why they are exempt when cheap all plastic aegs are not is a total mystery to me but typical of these new laws.
Anyway I picked one of these up secondhand recently ( semi auto only - weird ) most UK models are select fire
stil its a very nice model and probably the best MP5 replica I have ever seen.
Carl.

Re: RAP5
Thanks for the clear picture. Shows the magazine flare more clearly than the website photos do.
Anybody have or know of any video of one of these in operation? I've found plenty of the RAP4 M4 variants, but none of the MP5.

Re: RAP5
Sorry, I don't have mine anymore or I would post a video for you. They fire very nicely, actually. The one shown in the pic by phobus is one of the types that allow a charge into a tiny reservoir in the handle or a separate disposable CO2 cartridge in the rear (if you use the fixed stock). I really liked mine - if it wasn't for that flare in the mag and the fact that it keeps firing when empty, I'd still have it. I might even have two!
