Apparently it's a good year for The Producers. At least two local productions of it this Fall.

One's using an 8mm blank firing Walther P38, the closest thing I had in stock, but the other's got a really small space and felt the 8mm blanks were just too darn loud. At the same time, they didn't want to just use a sound cue and a non-firing Luger.

They were asking about .22 revolvers, and I decided I could give something different a try- this is one of the small starter pistols with ...

Picked up one of the Umarex Ruger Redhawk revolvers used recently:

Gotta say, I'm a little disappointed in a couple things. One biggie is that the accessory rail isn't standard size. The grooves are spaced right, but it's half again as narrow as a standard weaver rail. Makes sense, since it's the width of the revolver barrel, but I hadn't really thought about it before, and you can't tell from the profile pictures.

Logos are there, but small and hard to see. With the main things ...

Funny, I could swear I had a topic about these in here from ages ago... anyway, I finally got around to modifying one of the magazines to full size. It's been my biggest aesthetic peeve with these models. They're darn near idiot proof, rarely jam (since the mechanism is a motor instead of the blowback), go bang, smoke a little eject casings... I wish they were select fire, but at $40 each you can't expect too much.

Hopefully I'll get some pictures up with the new mag soon, but here's ...

I own two PPKs which I picked up in 2006 while in germany for the world cup. both have stoped being able to fire properly and I've discovered the problem is the same on both blank guns. I am quite fond of these two peices as they look great and have been used on quite a few of my Bond spoofs.

They don't make them like they used to... No wait! In the summer of 2008 Marushin did announce that they are releasing another shell-ejecting GBB pistol, the Glock 21.

Very interesting! Modelguns aren't cheap or easy to find, and as far as I'm concerned this would be almost as good. Wonder what they'll run for.

SO in doing a little poking around on armourarchive.com, it sounds like general consensus is that historically helmets didn't have chin-straps, they were just a good enough fit over your arming cap/coif/etc that they stayed in place.

Obviously, when buying cheap (used and Ebay) and/or renting out to unknown actors, that kind of fit isn't going to be achievable often. SCA also requires chinstraps, so there's plenty of other folks out there needing to put some kind of helmet retention device ...

Just wanted to highlight my appreciation for one of the features of the new Umarex and Eckols revolvers- whereas the old Bruni and Kimar blank firing revolvers I had either had a flat slab right in front of the cylinder or a wedge to deflect the blast from the blank. The former could get worn down/blasted away over time when using full load blanks- had that happen on a couple Pythons. The latter was more durable, but didn't look quite right in closeup.

Both of those though had gasses venting ...

WTT for real guns, thru FFL, of course, or WTS cash.

These just don't work for movies, they're breaking and getting damaged and I would prefer to use cheap airsoft or rubber guns for background from now on.

Yes I know they are possibly available cheaper elsewhere, but this is the price I want to sell them for (if they don't sell, they stay in the lock box, to work another day). I will trade for firearms but only through my class 2 FFL, totally ...

I may well be posting here more now if the MP40 forums are still having problems.

So... what do you guys use for cleaning modelguns? On a blank firing gun I'd be squirting it out with WD40 and wiping it off for a quickie clean, then using typical gun-cleaning stuff (minus the lead solvent) for a full cleaning, but I'm worried about what WD40 or other things might do to the rubber seals and ABS parts of a modelgun. I use silicon oil for lubrication, but for just cleaning it off... water?

I'm pretty excited to try it out- I've only occasionally seen or heard of Reck guns for sale in the USA, and some of their models look pretty nice. This is the first time I've actually gotten my hands on one.

Okay, as we're still just getting started here, and I've got a few new pieces to review soon... what sort of things are important to you? What should be included in a review? What would people need pictures or stats on, etc?

One of my gold standards for reviews is www.MyArmoury.com, because they have amazing photos and the people reviewing them generally know their stuff; it's not just 'gee, this is cool', but they're able to make comparisons to the museum originals, talk to the makers, ...

I was wondering if there's any buzz out there about any new full auto models coming out? Schoessler's says they've begun production of the Sten Mark II & I'm anxious to see it. Kennedy continues to list the infamous Blow MP5K as coming soon, but they've said that for 6 months. Has anyone heard of any other models that are soon-to-be-released?

Thanks!
