Umarex Colt 1911

Post  Fight Designer on Mon Mar 24, 2008 1:54 pm

Just got one of these off ebay. Haven't tried firing it yet, but boy it sure looks and feels worlds better than the bruni or kimar (I forget which I've had) 8mm blank fire versions! Very nice blued steel look, full trademarks, feels really solid. Came from the seller with Pachmeyer grips as well as the original wood.

This is my third gun from them, and at least in terms of looks and feel, I'm very happy with all of them. Only one I've used much at all was the Walther, and it did have some stovepipe jams. They cost more than Bruni, Kimar, Voltran, or Pandora, but the trademarks and more solid construction will probably make it worth it in the long run.

Picture doesn't do it justice, IMO.

I also have one of these the satin version and i agree they are very good the best of the 45 models (though it would be good to se what the new S&W 1911 is like) the only think about this model is the way the slide locks back on the last round as the slide locks out on the magazine rather than on the slide stop lever which is strange but at least the slide does lock back

Test fired this briefly today... just two shots, but both times it didn't function properly. Hammer didn't cock back, making it essentially a single-action firearm. Disappointing...

Also test fired my first Pandora brand blank firing gun a couple times, and got stovepipe jams from it both times.

Meh. In terms of props reliability, BFGs really are the bane of my (props and gun wrangling) existence...
