Finally finally a forum dedicated to blank firers. Thanks for putting this up for us Kevin. It sucks when MP40 removed all post regarding blank firer all of a sudden. So much infos on blank firer contributed by the forum members has gone into waste, down the drain. I would hope at least they can freeze that part of the forum and didn't just let all the infos flush down the toilet. What a waste!

Anyway I have found a new home here. Keep all the discussions coming and let's have fun and enjoy our discussions about our blank firers...

Yeah... the removal of the BFG forum on MP40Modelguns was what prompted this. Still not sure why they did that, but what the heck... all's well that ends well.

So now that there's the VCR bill in place in the UK, is it getting harder to find blanks as well?

What I mean is that, even if MP40 is to remove ALL the posts, they should at least freeze the section, lock it, so that infos contributed by the members are still there for reference. I have been collecting modelguns all my life, and never pay attention to the blank firing section until few months ago I just got myself a few blank firer then when I thought : "yeah there are some infos on MP40" and when I went back there they were all GONE! Finished! Zero infos. What a waste.

I know most people here are member of MP40 forum as well, I am not criticizing what Mark has done, but at least members' contributions don't go into waste.

Not sure Kevin I am in Austin, TX. As far as blanks go, I can find plenty of blanks around my area but never get to fire my BFs. I have never fired my modelguns too as I usually don't like to mess my toys up. Would hate to clean those brasses for the modelguns. Will the BFs powder residue be as corrosive as the modelgun? I know if you don't clean your modelgun after firing they could eat the plastic or metal away, what about the different type of blanks that is designed for BFs?

If they are not hard to clean then I might considering get some and put them to test.

Blanks we can get hold of still they did not get affected by the VCR but its finding who sells them that can be the problem, most shops that sold shotguns used to also sell blank firers and the blanks but now of course do not so places where to buy from are restricted now and so can also be expensive, 50 rounds of 8/9mm start at around £15 ($30) to £20 ($40), but at least they can still be bought. we can also buy 5.56 blanks,7.62, 9mm, etc for reenactment use again limted where from but still available, the 9mm are cheaper than 9mm pak but a lot more powerfull and have a crimped end so cannot be used in pak pistols.

Not sure how corrosive the blanks are... I generally try to spray them down with some WD40 and wipe them off a bit after use, but since the barrels on mine are all obstructed, I can't clean them the way I would my real guns.

I do have some revolvers where metal has gotten eaten away at the frame just forward of the cylinder... and some of the semi-autos around the vent holes... but I think that's more about the force of the blanks blasting away at the pot metal where the gasses go.

Hey now... let's be civil. Not looking to pick any fights, and some of us happen to enjoy those plastic pieces of junk too.

Not sure what's going on with MP40forum, and don't have time to investigate right now, but hopefully it'll get cleared up. This forum was not meant to compete with theirs- heck, there's a link to 'em right under the modelgun section of this forum... but at the moment it would appear I don't have a way to communicate with them either.

MP40 seems to be quite a friendly and tolerant website from my experience

I know they banned the blank firers but I still use the site for modelgun info although the VCR has all but destroyed gun related hobbies here in the UK .

Talking about them is all we have left - Shame if we get policed from even doing that !!!

i think it was becasue i left on there MP40 site,a link to this NEW blank gun forum so that old blank gun member's ( like vernonsmith & phobus etc ) could come and chat and talk about b/f's etc.

Guys what makes you think you are banned? the site does not seem to be working at the moment and its not working for members who dont come to this site so there is obviously a problem. I would hate to think that people got banned just because the put info for another forum on, so letsd wait and see what is wrong with the forum i have emailed mark to see if there is a problem.

Just heard from mark and the site has serious problems which is why it is down so dont think you are banned just because you cannot access the site there is a reason. i just hope mark can sort the problems without losing info that has been posted.

No you are not banned, some people are getting that and others not but you are not banned, the site has problem and mark may have to start the forum from scratch so it may be down for a while it all depends on what the problem, so ignore the you are banned as you are not.

Seems to be a server problem, the rest of his site works fine, just the forum application is down.
The MP40 forum is a great one, with even tempered, helpful members, their resistance to blank firing discussion makes perfect sense, the site was created for modelgun discussion.

I have had great help from a bunch of guys on that site locating, buying and identifying parts for modelguns that I have in my collection. I'm not sure any of us want to create anything but a pleasant to and fro' of information between these sites.

I have got no idea why I got banned. I assumed it was because I was asking for informations about blank firer forums (not discussing blank firers themselves as I already known the forum rules are not to discuss them). I put thread up to ask if anyone know which forum discusses blank firers, some people then posted up this newly set up blank firer forum. First my thread got removed, then later I am banned. I wasn't even warned if I have broken any rules, got banned right away.
